== Feedback (Mon, 20 Jul 2026 14:19:52 UTC) == The citations are based on the Deltarune Wiki, it's a harmless wiki gag that is often appreciated and mentioned by our users, so we prefer to keep it that way. --Gammaton32 (talk) 14:46, 20 July 2026 (UTC) Regardless of the joke, a lot of the quotes are unreliable as citations and their inclusion actively diminishes the point of having references in the section. "A street urchin in a Santa hat is making waves, as they spread holiday cheer throughout New York" -this is a newspaper referring to an anonymous person, gendered pronouns wouldn't be used "The child was out of their depth." -"the child" is the subject of the sentence, making "their" more natural to use. "So the heir to Fairfax Industries has graced us with their presence" -same here, "heir" is the subject of the sentence. "I don't even wanna know what they got in that case." -he/she wouldnt work here, even a gendered person would have they used to make the sentence flow better "They were young and stupid"/"They need to let go of the past" (from Yamato in Japanese) - Japanese typically doesn't use pronouns, in the first, Yamato is just calling them a stupid person, and in the second, the subject is omitted. --MinaFan13 (talk) 20:04, 31 August 2026 (UTC) Ok, first example makes sense in the context of the newspaper, though it could be argued that it uses a gender neutral descriptor for a reason. Examples 2-4 could have used gendered pronouns just as well. Same for 5-6, I can't speak specifically on Japanese grammar but Yamato does use gendered pronouns when speaking of other characters (and I mean specifically in the official subtitles in the game files, which - though I can't say I'm familiar with Valve's writing process - I can only presume are the lines as originally written in English). --Gammaton32 (talk) 20:26, 31 August 2026 (UTC)
