Note: No strategy is universal and fully consistent, adaptability is an important part of Deadlock's gameplay.

Grey Talon is a long range hero that builds spirit power, relying on Charged Shot and Guided Owl to deal damage, or gun, having high consistent DPS and using his Rain of Arrows for better accuracy and positioning.

Laning Phase / Early Game

Guided Owl does high damage compared to players' max health in the early game making it great or securing kills. Pay attention to the health bars at the top and send out a guided owl when someone is below 1/4 HP. Ask your teammates to ping the target you want to kill to help better navigate Guided Owl.

Ability Tips

Charged Shot

• Charged Shot's wind up time can be effectively reduced by using it during the lift of Rain of Arrows

Rain of Arrows

• Immediately cancelling Rain of Arrows will allow Grey Talon to keep his momentum and use it for mobility and evasion in emergency situations.

Spirit Snare

• Many abilities can be cancelled by throwing the Spirit Snare onto enemies and shooting the centre with Charged Shot. Note that, for grounded snares, the arrow must pass directly above or below the snare to detonate it; do not fire directly at the centre. Spirit Snare can also be detonated midair, but only if the arrow passes below the snare, not above.

• After upgrading the cooldown for Spirit Snare, it can be helpful to place it in narrow hallways which enemies are likely to ambush you from (or escape to), forcing them to either be cursed, slowed, and slightly damaged, or take a less ideal path.

Guided Owl

• Pressing [Space] can cause Guided Owl to explode early allowing you to kill enemies before the owl hits them, or to hit enemies around corners if your owl would not collide.

Synergies

Grey Talon works well with any hero that can keep an enemy in place to be lined up with a Charged Shot.

Counters

Grey Talon is Countered By:

Drifter's Eternal Night counters most of Grey Talon's Kit. Charged Shot can't be used from a safe distance. Rain of Arrow's height will render you blind to enemies on the ground. Guided Owl will also have limited vision making navigation near impossible.

Grey Talon Counters:

Vindicta is countered by gun Grey Talon in the late game because Grey Talon simply does more damage with more accuracy.
