Venator is a Hero in Deadlock. He doesn't walk the righteous path, he blazes the trail so that others may do so safely. His biggest challenge is knowing which weapon to use first. Firing a Consecrating Grenade into the fray softens up his enemies and keeps them from restoring health, and his Hex-Lined Snap Trap scatters across the ground to lock them in place. A Gutshot from his shotgun will knock back enemies who get too close, and when the time is right, Ira Domini will rid the world of evil once and for all.

A relentless monster hunter, Father Quinn Rourke represents the righteous wrath and fury of the Venators of Saint Benedict. Sent by his superiors at the Vatican, the Venator has been designated a mission: to annihilate the evil stirring in New York.

Venator was released on February 5, 2026 as the fourth winner of the Old Gods, New Blood update contest.
Trivia
* "Venator" means "hunter" in Latin.
* Venator's weapon is named after the Bible passage Jeremiah 51:20: "Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms".
* One of Venator's voice lines for upgrading Gutshot, "I long for the day when this will be a plowshare" references the phase "beating swords into plowshares" which comes from the Bible passage Isaiah 2:4.
* His ultimate ability, "Ira Domini", translates to "Wrath of the Lord" in Latin.
* Venator was one of the heroes in a private build who was accidently leaked on stream in May 2025. A playable version of Venator was added to the files in the Shop Rework Update. A new Venator portrait was leaked in a work-in-progress hero select screen posted on 4chan in July 2025. On 20th January 2026, Venator was teased in the Hideout with a thurible on a bookshelf.
* Before his release, Venator had voice lines calling him by his last name "Rourke", indicating it may have been his hero name at some point in development.
** The Doorman has voice lines calling Venator "Cain", indicating it may have been his first name before "Quinn".
* Venator originally had the Shopkeeper voice actor as a temp VO, who made self-aware jokes about his role. The female temp voice (currently on Boho) called him "the bodega guy".
* Prior to the Six New Heroes Update, Venator had an ability called "Potent Vapors", a channel which would heal Venator and grant him movement slow resist at the cost of him being unable to attack throughout its channel. This ability was replaced with Consecrating Grenade.
** Additionally, prior to the Old Gods, New Blood update, Venator used to have an ability called "Penace and Retribution", a passive that would grant Venator stacking bullet and spirit resistances as he took sustained damage. This ability was replaced with Hex-Lined Snap Trap.
* "Blessing Ammunition in the Hideout" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as Venator in the Hideout.
* Venator's selection voice line "Ours is not to question what is necessary. Ours is to have the will to do whatever it takes" is likely a reference to Alfred Tennyson's poem The Charge of the Light Brigade: "Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die".
* Venator had the largest winning margin in the Old Gods, New Blood hero contest, winning by an 11% difference over Celeste.
* Venator's weapon appears to be loosely based on a Heckler & Koch MP5, which officially entered service in 1966 but was designed as early as 1964. Additionally its under-barrel grenade launcher has been decorated to resemble a typical Ave Maria "Votive candle" commonly found in Catholic home altars. This is also coupled with some Rosary beads in place of a sling harness.
She works as a secret agent in the Sandman Division of OSIC, fighting as a devastating assassin character with a specialty in isolating and eliminating her foes. Her Smoke Bomb lets her sneak up on enemies before knocking them out with a Sleep Dagger and unleashing a hail of gunfire at close range. In desperate situations, Haze can enter her Bullet Dance to avoid return fire while dispatching her remaining targets.

In her position at the Occult Security and Investigation Commission, Haze is regularly tasked with infiltrating the dreams of "Persons of Interest" to determine the threat they pose to the United States. Graves is a Hero in Deadlock. The dead have been making a whole lot of demands lately, and only Graves has the courage to oblige. That severed lich hand she found in the cemetery has proven itself a valuable ally, allowing her to latch onto her enemies and steal their power for herself. Her curiosities about the passage of life are further put to use with Jar of Dead, collecting the remains of the fallen, shaking them up, and throwing them back at her enemies to grant those remorseful spirits a final shot at revenge. With Grasping Hands she strikes a deep crack in the earth, allowing those down below to grab onto enemies' ankles and stop them from escaping her reach. And when all else fails, a Borrowed Decree will summon the dead to fight alongside her.

For Darcy Graves, the cemetery was a welcomed respite from her home life. So when she unearthed a lich hand buried in Van Courtland Park, Graves found the best necromancy teacher that she could ask for.

Graves was released on January 29, 2026 as the second winner of the Old Gods, New Blood update contest.
Drifter is a Hero in Deadlock. Something ancient has arrived in New York... a nameless horror known only as the Drifter. Relentless as time, as certain as death, once Drifter sets his eyes on a victim there's nothing they can do to stop him. They can try to run, but his Bloodscent drives him forward, leading him to isolated prey. Even if they manage to escape it doesn't matter, as Stalker's Mark allows Drifter to appear right behind his enemies before lunging in for the kill with a vicious Rend. Soon Eternal Night comes, and a faint whistling in the breeze will be joined by a chorus of screams.

A feral vampire with ties to Louisiana, Drifter has open contempt for the rules of vampire society, leaving a trail of carnage wherever he goes.

Drifter was released on August 27, 2025 as the fifth hero of the Six New Heroes update (fourth winner of hero vote).
Celeste is a Hero in Deadlock. It's not every day that Coney Island's biggest star, The Dazzling Celeste, performs on the streets of Manhattan. Her show begins with Light Eater, where a deep breath lit by her blazing baton coats enemies in front of her, and grants increased damage against them. Following that up, she envelops herself in the prismatic shield of her Dazzling Trick, which explodes and silences nearby enemies who break it. Try not to get distracted by her gliding gracefully through the air, or by the dance of her Radiant Daggers, as you'll regret being underneath them when they rain down from above. As for her memorable final act, the Shining Wonder will make her allies go OOH and her foes go AGGHHH!

A popular attraction at Coney Island, "The dazzling Celeste" isn't a carnie with a horn glued to her head: she's actually a unicorn. As unicorns are nothing more than a myth in the eyes of the public, Celeste hides her true identity out of fear of getting poached for her horn. However, when one of her found family members on the sideshow loses part of their soul in a gambling debt, Celeste is prepared to risk revealing her identity if it means helping her family.

Celeste was released on February 9, 2026 as the fifth winner of the Old Gods, New Blood update contest.
If there's an enemy in range at a narrow angle (~45º) from the shot, the projectile flies in their direction.

* Celeste's appearance alludes to tattooed ladies who worked as sideshow attractions in the 19th and 20th centuries.
* Celeste has a sparkle effect on her air dashes.
* Celeste's Shining Wonder is nearly identical to Lich's Chain Frost ability from Dota 2 and is similar to the "Skipshot" ability of the unreleased hero Boho.
** There are cut voice lines that indicate Celeste was originally capable of using Dazzling Trick on allies as well as herself, furthering her similarities with Lich.
Calico is a Hero in Deadlock, a former monster hunter turned hired assassin. Possessing her cat, Ava, Calico uses the shadows to her advantage to surprise her foes, slinging Gloom Bombs and attacking with a Leaping Slash for damage and healing. By Returning to the Shadows, she can turn any fight to her advantage, disappearing after a fight or engaging again when the enemy least expects her.

As a contract killer, Calico is glad to finally be earning significant money by assassinating other people. Despite the good that the Baxter Society did by slaying monsters, it simply didn't pay well enough for her.

Calico was added to Hero Labs on October 24, 2024, and officially released on January 17, 2025.
}}
Billy is a Hero in Deadlock. A white hot ball of rage, furious at the very notion of... something. Billy is a chaotic front-liner who never backs down from a challenge. With Rising Ram he gets up close and personal, before slamming down with Bashdown to create shockwaves through his enemies. Running isn't even an option when Billy can use his ultimate Chain Gang to grapple enemies and pull them back in. A quick swig from his bottle gets him Blasted, and his enemies totally wrecked.

From looting to public vandalism, Billy makes sure anyone who can be bothered to listen gets to hear "the truth". Don't ask him how he got the goat head.

Billy was released on August 20, 2025 as the second hero of the Six New Heroes update (first winner of hero vote).

Innate
Billy has a passive that alters his light melee attacks. He can use light melees faster than other heroes (shorter recovery time), gets slowed less when using light melees, and his reload is not interrupted by light melees. This allows Billy to hit the Sinner's Sacrifice jackpot faster than other heroes if he uses only light melee.

Additionally, he can restore ammo when hitting melees once he unlocks his Blasted ability, as detailed below.

Weapon

}}

Weapon
Due to Billy's Blasted passive, hitting a melee attack reloads his ammo by either 100% (heavy melee) or % (light melee).
** Billy rises 67.5 hu above his initial elevation if the ability is immediately released and up to 163.97 hu while the ability key is held.
* If Billy reaches the max height of Bashdown, all horizontal movement becomes sharply reduced.
* T3 upgrade results in ~27% damage increase for the ability, as Billy's Heavy Melee is roughly equivalent to 2.32x of his Light Melee.
** Also enables item interactions that are specific to Heavy Melee, i.e. Melee Charge or Spirit Snatch.
Conversely, Rising Ram only has up to approximately 50 degrees of climb when ascending, even if aiming directly upwards.}}
* Bashdown procs the melee effects for Blasted.
* In addition to melee attacks against players, melee hits on Structures, Denizens, and player summoned units (e.g. McGinnis' Mini Turret) will proc Blasted's effects and extend its duration while active.
* If the player reaches a certain threshold of Blasted stacks by landing multiple melee hits in a short time (10-15s), the Blasted duration will start going down even if the player keeps landing melee hits. However, Blasted can be sustained indefinitely by spacing out melee hits before hitting the max stacks threshold.
* Counterspell only goes on cooldown on a successful spell parry.
* The player can parry multiple abilities during the Counterspell parry window. The heal and buffs are only applied for the first parry.

Notable interactions
* Counterspell prevents all damage from a Walker stomp and Shrine defense, but does not prevent the stun and knockback. It also does not prevent the Shrine's Curse status effect.
* Counterspell prevents all damage and Curse effect from the Patron's defensive attack.
* Counterspell does not proc when parrying Viscous' Puddle Punch, since the ability can be blocked by regular parries.
* Counterspell can prevent Lash's Death Slam if the player parries at the moment they would be pulled.
* Counterspell can be used on Doorman's Hotel Guest.
* Counterspell can be used on Celeste's Shining Wonder to avoid the initial damage. However, the orb will continue to linger on the player and can bounce onto other heroes, and back.
* Counterspell can prevent Build-Up effects such as Mina's Love Bites and stacking effects such as Haze's Fixation, if activated either before the build-up is applied or when it triggers. If build-up/stacks have already been applied, it does not prevent the build-up itself.
* Counterspell can prevent Mirage's Djinn's Mark before it's applied to the player. However, it does not prevent it from stacking or triggering once it has been applied.
Apollo is a Hero in Deadlock. With Flawless Advance the fencer begins his approach, timing his strikes perfectly to inflict more damage. Counter-attacks aren't a concern for Apollo, as a flourish of his blade deflects the damage and triggers a quick Riposte, and Disengaging Sigil allows him to jump out of the fray with ease. For his final blow, Apollo dons his fencer's mask and channels Ixia's might with Itani Lo Sahn, leaving enemies defeated in his wake.

As the prince of Ixia, Apollo comes from a land of beauty, tradition and conflict. Political violence was common in Ixia, but when Apollo was sent to New York for his own safety, he knew the situation was serious. Now a highly skilled fencer at Blackmore Academy, Apollo knows that in due time, he will be called back to Ixia... and when he returns, he will show why he's worthy to wield his family's ancestral blade.

Apollo was released on February 12, 2026 as the last hero of the Old Gods, New Blood update.

Rem is a Hero in Deadlock. An accidental stowaway from the world of dreams, Rem has found himself stranded in the city that never sleeps. Pillow fights are Rem's preferred form of conflict, tossing his favorite pillow at enemies to knock them back when they're getting too close. His friends, however, he likes to keep nearby - leaping to their aid when things get dicey and taking a quick nap on their shoulder. His Lil Helpers are curious creatures, taking interest in everything the streets of New York have to offer, and cheering on his allies as they go. Ultimately when Naptime hits, no one will be able to keep their eyes open.

A sleepy child from a world of dreams, Rem and his little helpers found themselves stranded in New York. Searching the five boroughs for a way home, Rem seeks to summon the Patrons so he can finally return to his family.

Rem was released on January 26, 2026 as the first winner of the Old Gods, New Blood update contest.
Rem can enter vents in the map by crouching, but he cannot enter while in combat.

Long Night has a subtle "aim assist" effect, in which the projectiles bend towards the enemy when close to Rem's crosshair. This is more noticeable when landing headshots, and is offset by Rem's outgoing headshot reduction.
* Helpers can be assigned to Sinner's Sacrifice machines, and will always secure full jackpots as if done with a heavy melee. They are interrupted if a player hits the machine.
** Helpers wait until the final lightbulbs start flashing to do the last hit, allowing a short window of time for another player to get the jackpot first.
* Helpers can get Bridge Buffs.
* Helpers will fully heal troopers upon cast.
* Helpers can be assigned to a Curiosity Shop to buy items in queue. They can also buy from enemy shops, making Rem the only hero able to do so. (This does not apply to base shops.)
** Rem does not need to have line of sight to the shop to send a helper to it.
* Helpers have a short delay to collect souls after breaking boxes, allowing a player to collect them first.
