These higher-tier "parent" items act as direct upgrades to their components, replacing them entirely when purchased. As such, parent items provide all the benefits of their component items, as well as several additional effects. Purchasing parent items automatically purchases the component item, making them more expensive than other items in their tier, unless the component has already been purchased. For example, Tier 3 items normally cost 3000 souls, but [[Titanic Magazine]] costs 3500 unless [[Basic Magazine]] has already been purchased.

Components in Deadlock are items required to purchase upgraded "parent" items. The pricing system automatically applies discounts when components are obtained, whether directly or through other parent items.

For example, Titanic Magazine normally costs Souls 1600 because it includes the Souls 800 cost of its Extended Magazine component. If you already own Extended Magazine, Titanic Magazine's price drops to just Souls 800 for the upgrade itself.

This component ownership affects all related parent items. Since Extended Magazine is also required for Escalating Resilience, owning Titanic Magazine will make Escalating Resilience cheaper too (reduced from Souls 3200 to Souls 2400).
