Shadowline was an early development version of Deadlock.
Overview
Not much is known about Shadowline. It existed at some point in the transition from Neon Prime to Deadlock, in 2022-2023. The web domain playshadowline.com and twitter account @PlayShadowline were registered in November 2023. It is assumed to be the first version to use the 20th Century American occult setting.
In this version, the ziplines were called "shadowlines",[1] and Astral Gates were "shadowline nexus". The shadowlines were based on ley lines.
Mentions
- The Shopkeeper narrated an old version of the tutorial that refers to the game as Shadowline.[2][1]
- Kelvin may reference a shadowline when upgrading his Ice Path.[3]
- In Viscous' background, the Bermuda Triangle Astral Gate is described as a "shadowline nexus".
Caldera_trooper
Caldera_trooper was a map found in early builds of Deadlock that presumably started development during the Shadowline period. It had a similar layout to Neon Prime's map, but with new lighting and assets from what would later become the Cursed Apple. Caldera_trooper was last compiled in July 2023.
