The Soul Urn, also known as Spirit Urn, Soul Jar or Spirit Jar, is an object in the game that spawns at the 10 minutes mark and respawns in 5 minute intervals thereafter.

The Soul Urn, also known as Spirit Urn, Soul Jar, Spirit Jar or Idol, is an objective that spawns at the -minute mark and respawns in -minute intervals.

Players can pick up the urn and deliver it to its destination at the side lanes of the map. Doing so grants the courier Souls and 4 Golden statue buffs.
Players can choose to pick up the urn and deliver it to the other Soul Urn location on the other side of the map. Doing so will grant the team who delivered the urn some Soul Orbs; a Golden statue buff; and the courier themselves is granted an Ability Point, as well as additional Souls.

Spawn
The Soul Urn will respawn after delivery on the side it was delivered to.

The soul urn spawns next to the bridge, alternating between Yellow and Green Lane. The first urn will always spawn in Yellow.

The urn respawns and alternates lanes every minutes. It descends from the sky for 12.5 seconds before it can be picked up. A player can grab the landed urn by hitting it with a Melee Attack (light or heavy).
Carrying the Soul Urn
After 10 minutes has elapsed in a match, the Soul Urn will spawn in one of two positions located in either of the two outermost lanes; beside the overhanging bridge at York Street (Yellow Lane) or beside the bridge at Park Avenue (Purple Lane). It will start by descending slowly from the sky and can only be grabbed after fully landing, which takes 30 seconds. Once landed, standing near the urn will cause the player to pick it up, taking 2 seconds. The player carrying the urn will be silenced.

The drop-off point is on the opposite side of the map to the urn spawn. If the urn hasn't been picked up in 3 minutes, it will start walking on its own to the drop-off via the Mid-Boss stairs, making up to about halfway through before it respawns on the other side. It can still be picked up while it's walking. If it is picked up before the next respawn time, the next respawn is delayed until the urn is either delivered or expires.
While carrying the urn, the urn courier will gain +2m/s Sprint Speed (+6m/s if on the losing team), but will be completely disarmed and silenced. The courier is revealed on the Minimap to the enemy team 20 seconds after picking it up. Couriers are also incapable of riding Ziplines or taking Teleporters, forcing them to run directly to the urn drop off point.

Carrying the Urn
The courier can choose to drop the urn at any moment by pressing their parry key.
While carrying the urn, the courier is affected in several ways:
* They get a bonus of +2 m/s Move Speed (capped at 15 m/s max), +1 Stamina, +10% Dash Distance, +25% Stamina Regen, and have 100% Slow Resistance.
** If they're on the trailing team, the courier also gets up to +% Bullet, Spirit, and Debuff Resist and +5m/s Sprint Speed. These buffs scale based on how behind the team is in souls (up to 15%).
* They cannot use Ziplines or Teleporters.
* Rem, Calico as Ava, and Mo & Krill using Burrow cannot enter vents.
* Going through 's drops the urn at the entrance door.
* Using the following abilities makes the courier drop the urn:
** Mirage - Traveler
** Rem - Tag Along
** Sinclair - Spectral Assistant teleport
** Viscous - Goo Ball

Melee attacks (light or heavy) and Melee Damage abilities from enemy Players (or NPCs), and any stun source will force the courier to drop the urn.
A heavy melee attack or any stun from an enemy will also force the courier to drop the urn. Dropped urns can be collected by any player, including the enemy team, and will walk back to its spawn point if left on the ground for too long.

Once every 6s, the Urn will say a voice line that can be heard by nearby players.
The urn's drop-off point is on the opposite side of the map, indicated by a small green box on the Minimap. If one team is in the lead (measured by soul count), the drop-off point will be closer to the losing team's side. It takes 2 seconds to properly drop off the urn, which then rewards the courier's team with soul orbs and additional bonuses. When the opposing team is carrying the Soul Urn, the green drop off box will appear red. The first time the Soul Urn spawns into the match at 10 minutes will never have a team-side spawn preference.

Note: The urn's soul value is determined at the moment it spawns. Holding onto the urn for longer durations does not increase its value.
Soul Urn Reward
The Soul Urn Bounty is currently 1725 + 230/min (10 min spawn is 4,025) (Patch 15-10-24)

Anti-stalling mechanics
* A random Golden Statue buff is granted to each member of the capturing team.
If the urn hasn't been delivered within 45s of being picked up, it will start decaying in value over another 45s, until its value reaches zero and it expires. This is indicated by the "delivering the urn" text turning red and counting down.
* 60% of the total Soul value is immediately given to the capturing team.
** The remaining 40% of Souls are given in Soul Orbs, which may be Denied.
* The courier receives an extra 25% of the share of Souls and an Ability Point.
* If the capturing team is behind, extra Souls are granted based on the magnitude of the deficit (Patch 06-13-24) .

Reward
Approximate Reward Breakdown
The Soul Urn's base soul bounty is Souls and increases by ' Souls per minute of game time. This value is "locked in" at the minute the Urn spawns.
* The courier will receive 20.83% of the urn value (12.5% instantly, 8.33% in Soul Orbs).
* The courier's teammates will receive 16.67% of the urn value (10% instantly, 6.66% in Soul Orbs).

The souls are released as Soul Orbs and can be denied. If not denied, all souls go to the courier. If an ally secures an orb, they share the orb value with the courier.

* If The Doorman uses Hotel Guest on the urn courier and the courier then drops the urn (e.g. Viscous uses Goo Ball), the urn will reappear in a room next to the Archmother's Blue Walker.

** Deadlock's November 21, 2024 update featured a 2 day experimental drop-off location at the "Mid Temple" in the room above the Mid Boss.
** The Soul Urn had multiple voicelines referencing the Center Temple. They were excluded from playing on July 18, 2024, but can still be found in the game's files.
* The May 22, 2026 update reworked the Soul Urn to grant Bullet and Spirit Resist in a radius to the team with a soul deficit at the moment of its spawn. This was reverted on May 28, 2026, presumably in response to a strategy demonstrated at the unofficial Deadlock Night Shift tournament the day before that involved an entire team purchasing , intentionally giving the enemy team souls to force the urn to spawn in a favored state, and then hatching the Eggs to maintain resistances provided by the Urn despite no longer lagging behind in souls.
* In the June 4, 2026 update, the Soul Urn was reworked to start a King-of-the-Hill capture point mechanic when delivered. This was later reverted and separated into its own objective on June 30, 2026 as the Unstable Rift.
