Scratch page: testing icon theming for the Shiv rows on Character Tech.

Switch between light and dark mode and compare the columns. The left column is what is live today; the middle column is the proposed change.

1. The eight Shiv rows

Column 1 is the current PageRef markup. Column 2 is the proposed Plink swap: same file, same link target, same 20px size, but wrapped in .pic-link so the theme can restyle it. Column 3 is an ordinary AbilityIcon row from the same table, as a reference for the intended look.

Current — PageRef Proposed — Plink Reference — AbilityIcon
 Alt-fire   Alt-fire   Slice and Dice
 Force Jumping   Force Jumping
M2 Recoil Skip   M2 Recoil Skip
 M2 Sliding   M2 Sliding
M2 Slide Hopping   M2 Slide Hopping
M2 Heavy Melee Climb   M2 Heavy Melee Climb
Infinite M2 Slide   Infinite M2 Slide
Infinite M2 Slide Acceleration   Infinite M2 Slide Acceleration

2. Monochrome check

Every file in Category:Stats that actually resolves through PageRef naming. Left is the raw file, right is the same file through Plink. Any raw icon that disappears against the light background is monochrome white.

File Raw Via Plink
Damage.png     Damage
Ability Range.png     Ability Range
Bullet Damage.png     Bullet Damage
Bullet Evasion.png     Bullet Evasion
Damage Barrier.png     Damage Barrier
Fire Rate.png     Fire Rate
Healing.png     Healing
Health.png     Health
Health Regen.png     Health Regen
Spirit Power.png     Spirit Power
Stamina.png     Stamina

3. Notes

  • Plink forces a flat silhouette: grayscale(1) brightness(0) invert(1) in dark mode, and invert(0) in light mode via the brown theme. So it only suits monochrome icons, never full-colour ones.
  • Plink hardcodes its alt text as the link target plus the word "icon", so these render as "Shiv/Movement#Alt-fire icon". PageRef currently emits an empty alt. Neither is ideal.
