It has a passive that makes the player immune to death for 4.5s when they would take lethal damage (health reduced to 0), but also makes them weaker while the effect is active.

When the player triggers Cheat Death, a visual effect of a scythe and a contract that reads ''"Savor your moments, cheat the end, but remember - Death always collects what is owed"'' appears above the player's head.

== Notable Interactions ==

* The temporary death immunity can be ended early by the buff-removing effects of {{ItemIcon|Cursed Relic}} or {{ItemIcon|Nullification Burst}}.
** {{ItemIcon|Cursed Relic}} does not prevent the activation if it is applied before Cheat Death triggers (as it does not prevent passive effects).
* Cheat Death is triggered ''before'' a {{PageRef|Rejuvenator|alt_name=Rejuvenator Credit|alt_link=Rejuvenator#Rejuvenation_Credit}}.
* {{HeroIcon|Victor}}'s {{AbilityIcon|Shocking Reanimation}} is triggered ''before'' Cheat Death.
** An exception is for {{HeroIcon|Shiv}}'s {{AbilityIcon|Killing Blow}}, which will trigger Shocking Reanimation and Cheat Death at the same time. This is likely unintentional.

* Cheat Death has the same name and similar effect to one of the abilities of the unreleased hero [[Rutger#(3) Cheat Death|Rutger]].
* Cheat Death's icon has been redesigned multiple times: Originally it showed a hand holding 5 aces in a poker game against Death, then as a person kicking the door of a coffin, and currently is a hand holding 5 aces including a skull suit.
