'''Graves''' is a [[Hero]] in ''[[Deadlock]]''. The dead have been making a whole lot of demands lately, and only Graves has the courage to oblige. That severed lich hand she found in the cemetery has proven itself a valuable ally, allowing her to latch onto her enemies and '''[[Graves#Essence Theft|steal their power]]''' for herself. Her curiosities about the passage of life are further put to use with '''[[Graves#Jar of Dead|Jar of Dead]]''', collecting the remains of the fallen, shaking them up, and throwing them back at her enemies to grant those remorseful spirits a final shot at revenge. With '''[[Graves#Grasping Hands|Grasping Hands]]''' she strikes a deep crack in the earth, allowing those down below to grab onto enemies' ankles and stop them from escaping her reach. And when all else fails, a '''[[Graves#Borrowed Decree|Borrowed Decree]]''' will summon the dead to fight alongside her.

For Darcy Graves, the cemetery was a welcomed respite from her home life. So when she unearthed a lich hand buried in Van Cortlandt Park, Graves found the best necromancy teacher that she could ask for.

Graves was released on [[Update:January 29, 2026|January 29, 2026]] as the second winner of the [[Update:January 22, 2026|Old Gods, New Blood]] update contest.

== Weapon ==

The Teacher attaches to the target closest to the reticle. It cannot deal headshots and Graves cannot buy headshot items.  However, it deals double damage once every 13 consecutive shots (~1.3s at base [[fire rate]]). This count resets on reload, loss of target, or when attacking a different target.

The Teacher has no [[Damage Falloff|damage falloff]] and deals no damage beyond its max range. However, the falloff range is factored in when calculating Graves' [[Build-Up]] per bullet, most notably the build-up from {{AbilityIcon|Essence Theft}}. As an exception, the effect from {{ItemIcon|Ricochet}} has damage falloff, calculated based on the distance from the main target to the ricocheted target.

Air dashing while firing The Teacher will stop consuming ammo briefly. It is also the only weapon in the game that is not interrupted and can be continuously fired while performing an air dash.

The Teacher cannot target {{HeroIcon|Venator}}’s {{AbilityIcon|Hex-lined Snap Trap}} to disarm it.
