'''Lady Geist''' is a [[Hero]] in ''[[Deadlock]]''. A [[wikipedia:Socialite|socialite]] with a necromantic pact, Lady Geist is a character that consumes her own health for her abilities while draining the life away from opponents. Lady Geist sacrifices her life force to launch Essence Bombs and Malice "Blood Shards". Lost health can be filled with Life Drain, sapping the oppositions Non Player Characters(NPC), objectives and/or Player Characters(PC) of their health. Soul Exchange can swap health values of between an opponent PC and Lady Geist.

The Toast of the Town, Lady Geist was famed by all and invited to every ball and gala in the city... until her beauty faded in her old age and left her with only memories and stories of her glory. In desperation, she formed a pact with a powerful spirit and bound it by powerful wards until she was safe and young again. All she needs to do now is feed on the life force of her fellows to maintain her beauty... and hope desperately that the [[Oathkeeper]] will stay bound.

Jeanne Geist (married name) was born in France, in 1815. She married German artist<ref>{{VoiceLineCite|name=Newscaster|file=newscaster_headline_69.mp3|transcription=The Museum of Modern Art recently announced a special gallery showcasing the work of late German artist Johann Geist.}}</ref> [[Johann Geist]]. Jeanne and Johann had a son named [[Minor characters#Walter Geist|Walter]] in 1850, and Johann died in 1880.

[[Storyline|Circa 1899]], when Jeanne was around 84 years old, the first [[Maelstrom]] happened, bringing various supernatural forces to Earth, and the spirit [[Oathkeeper]] was one of them. Jeanne made a pact with Oathkeeper to regain her youth in exchange for draining the life of others. She was initially reluctant, but accepted the deal. However, with the help of Walter, she made a ward to keep Oathkeeper under control.

Walter had a son whom he named after his father, [[Minor characters#Johann Geist (Jr.)|Johann "Jr."]] Johann Jr. became a doctor, and after Walter died, he did the maintenance of his grandmother's ward. Jeanne and Walter had "a terrible sense of humor", according to Johann Jr. 

Now, 50 years after her initial pact and on the eve of the second Maelstrom, Geist has to decide how she'll deal with Oathkeeper, and whether she'll continue to kill others to stay young or accept her natural aging and eventual death.<ref>[[The Binding of Oathkeeper|''The Binding of Oathkeeper'']]</ref>
