Shelly Fisher, also known as Ms. Shelly or Miss Shelly, is a widowed junk yard attendant. She created Bebop to assist her in her work and to be the son she could never have.[1]
Summary
Shelly Fisher is an elderly black woman with grey hair and glasses.[2]
Ms. Shelly has fallen ill and Bebop has turned to pit fighting in order to pay for her medication. While Ms. Shelly's exact illness is unknown, it's implied that modern medicine can't save her.[3] While not eager to die, Ms. Shelly was content with her life and has accepted her eventual death.[4]
Bebop's motivation and wish in the ritual is to cure Shelly Fisher of her illness.[5][6] He views Ms. Shelly as his "mother".[7] Shelly doesn't know Bebop is a pit fighter, and he believes she wouldn't approve of his activities.[1] Shelly Fisher is resting at home during the in-game ritual.[8]
Ms. Shelly's creation of Bebop is described as "an act of craftsmanship, willpower and sacrifice". Shelly created Bebop without any bindings (rules to keep Bebop under control) because she "doesn't believe in that sort of thing".[9]
McGinnis is impressed by the craftsmanship used to create Bebop and shows interest in hiring Ms. Shelly to work at Fairfax Industries.[10]
Ms. Shelly is a fan of Jazz, which was the inspiration for the name Bebop.[11]
Ms. Shelly's doctor is Johann Geist Jr., Lady Geist's grandson.[12]
