Skill Rating or Skill Ranks is a system in Deadlock that determines a player's matchmaking rating and hero-based rating.
It was added in the November 21, 2024 Update and replaced Ranked mode.
Every player starts with the provisional rating of Obscurus. Once a player has played enough Normal mode matches, they will be assigned a new rating. Only Normal mode matches counts for skill rating. The rating is automatically updated based on the player's performance after every Normal match.
Matches in which a player has disconnected within the first 5 minutes do not count for skill rating.
A player's rating is less affected by "bad quality" matches with large skill disparity, and more affected by evenly balanced matches.
The player can enable an option in settings to see the average rating of each Team in a match in the post-game screen, as well as an option to be notified when their rating increases.
The Skill Rating tab also shows the player's hero-based rating, which represents their skill performance with each hero relative to their core rating. It is represented by one or two green upward arrows and one or two red downward arrows. Green arrows and red arrows indicate if the player's matchmaking rating with that hero is high or low relative to their core skill rating, respectively. Unplayed heroes start with two red arrows.
The Global leaderboard showcases the top 1.000 Deadlock players per region, as well as up to 3 of their highest-rated heroes. Hero leaderboards showcase the top 1.000 players of each hero available in Normal mode, per region.
A player needs to have played a minimum of 50 matches in the past 30 days to appear in the global leaderboard, and a minimum of 20 matches with a specific hero in the past 30 days to appear in that hero's leaderboard.
The leaderboard regions are North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
Players are assigned into the below ratings, with Eternus as the highest and most skilled rating available.
Within each rating, players are further assigned a subrating from I to VI, with VI the highest subrating. The ratings, from lowest to highest are:
