This page lists triggers for various voice lines, also known as responses. These triggers are controlled by the game files called response_rules and generated_response_rules.

Select

Select lines are played when selecting a Hero to search for a match, or increasing a Hero's matchmaking priority.

Unselect

Unselect lines are played when unselecting a Hero before searching for a match, or reducing a Hero's matchmaking priority.

Conversations

Conversations are played in the zipline at the start of the match. If a conversation is incomplete, only the first line is played. If the Hero has no conversations with their lane partner, a Patron Match Start line is played instead.

Ability Lines

Upgrade

Upgrade lines are played when unlocking and upgrading abilities.

Usage lines are played when using an ability.

Use (Low Health)

Variation of Usage lines, played when the Hero has less than 20% health. Labeled as "desperation".

Pings

Pings or voice commands are lines played when the player marks a location, another player, or wants to send a message to their team. Pings also appear as text messages.

Pings are triggered by pressing Mouse 3, holding Mouse 3 to open the Chat Wheel menu, or holding Tab and clicking on the map with Mouse 1 or clicking on another player's portrait or items with Mouse 3.

The Chat Wheel menu can be customized in settings.

Context Pings

Context Pings are a unique option in the Chat Wheel that shows a ping based on the player's current state in the game, or as a response to another player's ping or actions. Various pings can appear as context pings.

Headed to Lane/Base

The player can ping where they are going by aiming at the location and clicking Mouse 3, selecting the option in the Chat Wheel, or holding Tab and clicking in the map close to the location they want to go. It appears as a context ping when riding a zipline to the lane or to the base. Using line of sight or clicking on the map shows a green arrow at the marked location.

See Enemy

An enemy's location can be pinged by aiming at the enemy and clicking Mouse 3, or clicking at the enemy's icon in the Minimap. This will also highlight the enemy in red for the player and allies.

Missing Enemy

A missing enemy can be pinged by holding Tab and clicking Mouse 3 at the enemy's portrait.

Warn Ally

An ally can be warned of danger by aiming at them and clicking Mouse 3, or holding Tab and clicking at their portrait or Minimap icon with Mouse 3.

Patrons

Match Start

Patrons' Match Start lines are played in the zipline at the beginning of the match. They are hero-specific.

Big Healing

Big Healing lines are played when a Hero has healed its allies for a total of 5000 HP.

Unused Lines

Win and Lose

edit

Win and Lose are lines in which the Heroes react to either winning or losing the match. There are specific lines for winning or losing short games (less than 30 minutes) and long games (more than 50 minutes).

Pass on zipline

"Pass on zipline" lines are intended to be played when two ally Heroes cross paths on a zipline. Based on the context, the Hero who says it is going back to the base.

Killed By

"Killed By" lines were responses to being killed by specific enemy Heroes. These lines were only present in Neon Prime.
