Ixia is another plane of existence from ours, connected to Earth through an astral gate.[1]
Summary
South Ixia is the 52nd state of the United States. The anniversary of its annexation is celebrated across the country.[2] North Ixia is a battleground.[3]
The US government is sending aid to Ixia as part of their military campaign, drawing opposition from the Friends of Humanity.[4] The Ixian War is a divise political topic.[5]
Wrecker is known as The Butcher of Ixia.[6] He fought in the fields of North Ixia.[3]
Ixia is a tourism destination.[7]
Ixians
Ixians are the origin of what were historically known as Demons. After the first Maelstrom, some Ixians have immigrated to Earth, leading to a new population of Earth-born Ixians. Infernus and Grey Talon's daughter-in-law are some of them.[1]
Some Ixians have a supernatural control of fire, manifested in Infernus and in Grey Talon's daughter-in-law. Even though Abrams is Ixian,[8] he isn't currently known to have control over fire.
Some Ixians, like Abrams, have blue skin and horns. Others, like Infernus, have black skin and no horns.
Cadence is a popular Ixian singer.[9]
It seems to be possible for Ixians to have children with humans.[10] It's currently unknown if these "half-Ixians" inherit all the Ixian traits from their parent.
Trivia
- Infernus has a tail in The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork and in one of his earlier models. A work-in-progress model for Abrams also has a tail.
- Abrams has spikes in The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork.
- Ixia's name may be a reference to the nine circles of Hell in Dante's Inferno, as IX is the Roman numeral for 9.
- It also shares its name with the planet Ix from Dune, whose inhabitants are also known as Ixians.
- One of the building types in the Cursed Apple is labeled "Arch_apartment_ixia" in the game files.
- There is an unused texture for a sign advertising "Ixia hair braiding and Conjuring".
