The mechanical son of a widowed junkyard attendant, Bebop and Ms. Shelly live together at a junkyard, working with scrap metal by day and listening to jazz music by night. But once Ms. Shelly falls ill, Bebop is forced into illegal activities to pay for her medicine, doing whatever he can to save his creator. While Ms. Shelly wouldn't approve of what Bebop does to pay for her medicine, what she doesn't know can't hurt her.

Backstory

See Bebop/Lore for more story content.

Forged by the hands of a widowed junk yard attendant; Bebop was more than just some scrap golem laborer... he was the son she couldn't have. Together they would work in the iron yard during the day, and listen to jazz at night. It was a predictable, if not comforting routine. But now, Bebop's creator has fallen ill and while Miss Shelly wouldn't approve of the activities that Bebop does at night to pay for her medicine, what she doesn't know can't hurt her.

Overview

Bebop's motivation and wish in the ritual is to cure Ms. Shelly of her illness.[1][2]

Biography

Bebop describes his creation as "an act of craftsmanship, willpower and sacrifice".[3] Bebop seems to have a soul.[4]

Bebop's main source of income for Ms. Shelly's medicine is by fighting in the Bear Pit.[5][6][7] Once Ms. Shelly is cured of her illness, he intends to retire.[8]

Personality

Bebop was created with access to his own free will.[9] While Bebop doesn't particularly value human life,[10][11] he knows Ms. Shelly wouldn't approve of him killing people.[12][13]

Information

Bebop can speak French, but can't speak Japanese.[14][15]

Bebop calls humans "organics".[16][17]

Bebop knows how to bake biscuits.[18]

Character Relationships

The creator of Bebop.

Bebop refers to Ms. Shelly as his "mother".[19]

Bebop offers to introduce Ms. Shelly to   Drifter,[20]   Victor[21] and   Viscous.[22] He also wanted   McGinnis to speak to her.[23]

Bebop and Lash have a rivalry fueled by hate for each other.[24][25][26]

Lash used to use an uppercut instead of Ground Strike, but refused to use it ever again after seeing Bebop use an uppercut.[27][28]

Bebop has beaten Lash in the Bear Pit once,[29] and Lash has beaten Bebop at least once afterwards.[30][31]

Neither Bebop nor Lash elaborate on why they hate the other so much.[32][33]

Lash has at least 87 reasons why he's better than Bebop.[34]
