I dedicated my life to the OSIC. I won't fail them.

The Occult Security and Investigation Commission is a black box government organization that makes the CIA look transparent. It falls on the men, women, and entities of the OSIC to keep the country safe from sinister forces that are beyond the capabilities of local law enforcement.

As a member of the notorious Sandman Division, Haze is routinely tasked with infiltrating the dreams of persons of interest, to assess their threat level, and if needed... to put them to sleep.

Overview

Haze is fighting in the ritual on behalf of the OSIC.[1][2] Her wish is unknown, although the Patrons tempt her to wish herself a new life.[3][4][5]

Biography

A sandman from the secretive OSIC, Haze's background is shrouded in mystery. She mentions being trained by the OSIC and has dedicated her life to them,[6][7] but any information on Haze's origins and how she became an OSIC agent is unknown.

Sent to participate in the ritual by the OSIC,[1] Haze has prepared extensively for the ritual by performing drills, research, stretching, divination, and fortune telling.[8]

Haze is nicknamed "Dreamwalker" and "Dreamstalker".[9]

Personality

Haze works for the OSIC because she "loves her country".[10] She acknowledges that the OSIC is flawed, but in her eyes the ends justify the means.[11] She is extremely loyal to her superiors and her job,[12][7][13] although it's implied that she doesn't love being a Sandman.[14][15] She sometimes warns others to not bring the OSIC's attention to themselves, and is willing to turn a blind eye if they're not dangerous or designated as a target.[16][17][18] She believes OSIC agents should be thick-skinned, but still care about what they are doing.[19][20]

As an OSIC agent, Haze has knowledge on many subjects, including The Deep and the Adversary.[21][22] She has read the OSIC's files on the other heroes.[23]

Haze has gotten used to entering people's nightmares, as most of their fears are similar. She finds it scarier to see what her targets dream for.[24]

Appearance

Haze is a supernatural athletic woman with smoky pitch-black skin, with a yellow accent under her face. It's unknown what species or race she belongs to. She has full yellow eyes, a yellow "X" marked on her forehead, and her brunette hair meshes with her head and is tied in a bun. She wears a uniform of an orange shirt with chest pockets and a black necktie, badges on her chest and arms, long black gloves, baggy waist-high black pants with two orange tracks on each side, black heeled boots with orange soles, a black backpack, and a large black belt carrying her knives. Her weapons are two silenced submachine guns.

Information

Haze has friends, though she rarely talks about them.[25]

Haze appreciates quality knifework.[26]

Haze plays the cello for fun.[27]

Character Relationships

Agent Marlowe is implied to be one of Haze's superiors.[28][29]

Haze believes Marlowe would want to know about   The Doorman's involvement in the ritual.[30]

Haze and Rem are friends.[31][32][33] Haze promised to help Rem get home and dislikes him fighting in the ritual due to the dangers.[34][35]

Rem calls Haze his "mom".[36]

Rem sees Haze when he sleeps and claims that "she's him".[37][38]

Rem seems to have caused Haze some trouble prior to the ritual,[39] but how the two met and how they know each other is currently unknown.

Haze and Grey Talon know each other. She refers to him by his first name and sent a card when his son died.[40]

They haven't seen each other for "a while".[41]

Haze takes Viscous and his problems seriously.[21]

Haze wants to know more about The Adversary in case more creatures like it come through The Deep's astral gate.[22]

Character Interactions

  • Most characters dislike fighting Haze, since nobody wants to piss off the OSIC.[42]
  • Haze suggests a position at the OSIC to   Abrams,[20]  Graves,[43]  Victor[44] and  Vindicta.[45]
  • Haze is worried about  Apollo participating in the ritual since him dying would cause an international incident.[46][47]
  • Haze appreciates what  Ivy did for New York.[48] She doesn't think Ivy would be a good OSIC agent, however, due to Ivy's big heart.[19]
  • Haze tells   Dynamo that OSIC agent Marlowe has an offer for Dynamo to join them. Dynamo mistakes Marlowe for his wife, Marla.[49]
  • Haze has been ordered to assassinate  Calico and  Seven.[50][51] She's also keeping an eye on  The Doorman,[52]  Lady Geist,[16]  Wraith[53] and  Yamato,[54] but hasn't been told to kill them since they aren't considered national threats yet. The OSIC aren't aware of  Vyper and Haze views her as "beneath her paygrade".[55][56]
  • Haze and  Mirage respect each other's discipline.[57][58] However, she criticizes him for wanting to use the Patron's wish to get Wyoming, instead of negotiating through official channels.[59][60]
  • Haze views  Wraith as "a worthy target".[61]
  • When on the same team,   Seven teases Haze for working alongside him and asks how soon will they start fighting each other once the ritual is over.[62][63]
  •   Infernus asks Haze for help to deal with Jezebel's issues with the Alchemy Bureau, though she wouldn't want to help him if they fail the ritual.[25]
  •   Celeste and   Mina compliment Haze's uniform.[64][65]

Holliday's Visual Novel

“The hell are you staring at, buddy?”
This page contains game content that is unfinished, work in progress, or unavailable in standard gameplay.
Main article: Holliday's visual novel

Haze makes an appearance in Holliday's visual novel, currently untitled.

Note: Holliday's visual novel is currently inaccessible to the main game, instead being something planned for release in the future. As such, everything in the current visual novel is prone to change, as it is still undergoing development.

Haze is set to make an appearance in Holliday's visual novel, presumably in Storyline A. While anything beyond Chapter 2 is unwritten, one pathway has Holliday working alongside the OSIC. In that pathway, Haze is supposed to work with Holliday to bring the Troubadour to justice. The main outlook at Haze's role in Holliday's visual novel is through visual novel specific conversation lines found in the files.

At one point, Haze enters Holliday's dreams to find out more about the Troubadour and his actions in Macomb.[66] At some other point, Haze helps Holliday bring the Troubadour in without killing him, to which Holliday appreciates Haze stopping her from "crossing a line".[67] Another conversation has Haze tease Holliday about the rumor that she's sleeping with Captain Murphy.[68]
