“You'd think people would be more excited about a jar of souls!— Soul Urn
The Soul Urn, also known as Spirit Urn, Soul Jar or Spirit Jar, is an objective that spawns at the 12-minute mark and respawns in 6-minute intervals.
Players can pick up the urn and deliver it to its destination at the side lanes of the map. Doing so grants the delivering team Soul Orbs, a Golden statue buff, and additional souls for the courier.

Spawn
After 12 minutes, the Soul Urn spawns in one of 6 possible locations:
- Neutral: Next to the bridge in either Yellow or Green Lane
- Favored: Next to a jungle camp near either the team's Yellow or Green Walker
- Unfavored: Next to a jungle camp near either the enemy team's Yellow or Green Walker
The urn alternates lanes every 6 minutes. However, if the urn is picked up before the next spawn time and delivered after (i.e. picked up before 18 minutes and delivered after), it does not spawn again until the next scheduled spawn time. It descends from the sky for 12 seconds before it can be picked up. A player can grab the landed urn by hitting it with a Melee Attack (light or heavy).

Comeback mechanic
If the capturing team is behind by 10% or more (15% for the first urn), the Urn becomes a "Favored" or "Comeback" Urn. In this case, candles will appear around the urn after it has landed. In the case of one's own team being in a soul deficit, green candles will rotate around the urn. In the case that the enemy team is in a soul deficit, red candles will rotate around the urn.
The team favored by the urn receives Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.% Bullet, Spirit, and Debuff Resist in a Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.m radius of the urn while it's being deposited.
Carrying the Urn
While carrying the urn, the courier is affected in several ways:
- They get a bonus of +3.5 m/s Move Speed (capped at 15 m/s max), +2m/s Sprint Speed, +1 Stamina, +10% Dash Distance, +15% Stamina Regen, and have 100% Slow Resistance.
- If they're on the favored team, the courier also gets +Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.% Bullet, Spirit, and Debuff Resist and +5m/s Sprint Speed (along with the default +2m/s).
- They are disarmed and movement silenced.
- Yamato can bypass these restrictions with Shadow Transformation. This is likely unintentional.
- They are revealed to the enemy team at all times on the Minimap.
- They cannot use Ziplines or Teleporters.
- Going through the Doorman's Doors drops the urn at the entrance door.
- Doorman using ally Luggage Cart on himself also makes him drop it, but not if he uses it to push an ally.
- Viscous drops the urn if he uses Goo Ball.
- Rem and Mo & Krill using Burrow cannot enter vents.
The courier can drop the urn at any time by pressing their parry key. Melee attacks (light or heavy) and Melee Damage abilities from enemy Players (or NPCs), and any stun source will force the courier to drop it. If the urn is left on the ground, it will wait indefinitely if there are enemies of the last courier's team in a 40m radius, or for 13s if there are only ally players in that radius. Once either this timer runs out or all players leave the 40m radius, it cannot be picked up anymore and will run back to its spawn point.
Note: The Soul Urn's soul value is determined at the moment it spawns. Holding onto the urn for longer durations does not increase its value.
Delivering the Urn
The drop-off point is on the bridge in the middle of the lane opposite to the urn spawn. Any players near this area while the urn is being carried and delivered are revealed in the minimap, like the courier.
Once the courier drops off the urn, they receive the courier bonus and the urn starts a "Depositing" phase. This creates a capture point of Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.m radius around the urn drop-off, indicating by a green circle effect. The time to capture the point is as follows:
- Favored team (behind): Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.s
- Neutral team: Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.s
- Unfavored team (ahead): Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.s
Both teams earn progress as long as they have at least one player in the capture point, but the urn can only be claimed once there's only one team in the point. The progress rate is the same regardless of how many players per team are in the point.
If the urn has been contested for over Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.s, all souls will be released as Soul Orbs to be claimed by either team.
Anti-stalling mechanics
To prevent one team from holding the urn for too long without delivering it, the urn begins to deal Pure Damage to its courier for 5% of their max health per second and disables their Health Regen after carrying it for 40 seconds (counting the time it's held by the entire team). However, this timer is paused if there are enemies in a 40m radius of the courier or if the urn is dropped, and resets if the enemy team picks it up. 2s are added to the team's timer whenever the urn is picked up again.
If the team's urn timer goes over 45s, the urn will run back to its spawn if it's dropped again with no enemies nearby.
Reward
The Soul Urn's base soul bounty is
1040 Souls and increases by
185 Souls per minute of game time. This value is "locked in" at the minute the Urn spawns.
When a team successfully turns in the Soul Urn:
- A random Golden Statue buff is granted to each member of the capturing team.
- All souls are distributed instantly and equally to all team members.
Courier's bonus
The courier receives a personal bonus equal to Error: misc "citadel_idol_cashin" not found.% of their total share (Base Share + Comeback Bonus), as well as 4 random Golden Statue buffs. These bonuses are awarded instantly upon delivery (before the depositing phase, and not affected by which team ultimately wins the urn).
Comeback reward
If the favored team wins the urn, they get a soul bonus that scales based on game time and the team's soul deficit. It uses a growth rate of
130 Souls per minute. The first
3000 souls of net worth difference are ignored when calculating the deficit.
Approximate Formula: Individual Bonus = 130 × Minutes × Deficit %

Lore
Trapper builds Soul Urns for the New York Municipal Coven.[1]
The Urn is sentient and says its job is to keep New York clean by capturing rogue spirits, which should then be released in another location.
The Urn nags heroes to be delivered quickly and believes its work is underappreciated.
Trivia
- In Neon Prime, the Urn was called the Idol and dropped off at the Center Temple, a location above the Mid-Boss.
