The overarching structure of quote pages can be found in the Style Guide. The order of voice line transcriptions should match the order given in the files.

For conversations, one field holds one conversation. Audio is cut to contain the entire conversation in one file. To show which character is speaking, precede the transcription with the characters name in bold letters. If one conversation partner does not have lines yet, the transcription can be left empty.

There are characters who frequently speak languages other than English. A sentence at the top of the quote page should disclose the second spoken language. For example, this is how it is done on Ivy's quote page: "Some of Ivy's lines are spoken in Spanish, or a mix of Spanish and English. They will have translation in italics."

Deadlock being a world of the mystical, sometimes a character will speak an unknown language, such as Ixian. Checking the in-game caption provides the proper transcription, however, a translation is currently impossible. Adding "(Ixian)" to the end of the transcription sufficiently marks it as such.

Transcription Style Guide

[edit | edit source]

This style guide aims to set a standard for voice line transcriptions, making them consistent across pages and between different editors.

General Rules

[edit | edit source]

Transcriptions should match the in-game caption as closely as possible. Changes can be made to correct grammar, unusual punctuation or to make the tone of the line more clear. Italics are allowed for emphasis. Do not use brackets, links or boldened text in transcriptions.

Line Audio Caption Transcription

Structure

[edit | edit source]

The overarching structure of quote pages can be found in the Style Guide. The order of voice line transcriptions should match the order given in the files.

For conversations, one field holds one conversation. Audio is cut to contain the entire conversation in one file. To show which character is speaking, precede the transcription with the characters name in bold letters. If one conversation partner does not have lines yet, the transcription can be left empty.

Conversations Audio Transcription
match_start_convo_01 Holliday: How good are you at hitting moving targets?

Vindicta: I shot Hathorne's brother while he was day-drinking on a speedboat.

Holliday: ... I'm gonna pretend that was a joke.

Vindicta: It was not.

Holliday: You know I have to arrest you now.

Vindicta: When this is over, you are more than welcome to try.

match_start_convo_02 Vindicta: Bind them, sheriff. And leave the rest to me.

Holliday: Yeah, that's not ominous.

match_start_convo_03 Holliday: You look concerned.

Vindicta: Forgive me for not having much faith in servants of the law.

Holliday: Law has come a long way since you died.

Vindicta: No, sheriff. It really hasn't.

To make sure that the distance between the first line and the top of the field is equal to the distance between all other lines, use the source editor to properly seperate the line, This will look as follows in the source editor.
