Reliability

A voice actor is only considered confirmed through a reliable source, which can be either developer Kaori in the official Discord[1] or an actor's social media or personal website. IMDb alone is not considered a reliable source, as credits are user-submitted and thus may be incorrect.[2][3]

The final voice cast will only be available upon Deadlock's official release, and actors may be recast during development, even if they were already identified or confirmed.[4][5]

  • Various Deadlock voice actors have played roles in previous Valve games, most notably John Patrick Lowrie, who voiced Sniper in Team Fortress 2, Pudge and other heroes in Dota 2, and Odessa Cubbage in Half-Life 2.
  • Various Deadlock voice actors have played roles in the Saints Row series, which writer Steve Jaros has previously worked on.
  • The Hidden King announcer's voice actor was recast with the new model in the Old Gods, New Blood update. The current voice is speculated to be either Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs in Spongebob Squarepants) or Darin De Paul (Reinhardt in Overwatch). Developer Kaori has so far chosen not to reveal the name of either the current or previous voice actor to not "spoil the fun".[36] They have also said that the previous Amber Hand actor can still be heard in the game in a different role.[37]
  • Lash calls Drifter a "murder hobo",[38] a term commonly used to describe RPG players who kill NPCs indiscriminately. Drifter's voice actor Matt Mercer is well-known as the Dungeon Master of the Dungeons & Dragons webseries Critical Role.
  • Yamato was recast in the 2024-10-10 Update because her original voice actress was not a native Japanese speaker.
  • The Generic Female temp character has a voice line joking that they're "not Matt Mercer", referencing common fan speculation that various characters were voiced by Matt Mercer (most notably Krill).[39]
