“Slork. As long as people keep talking about you, you're not truly dead.— Rem
Fathom (or Slork) is an unreleased Hero in Deadlock, previously available in the Hero Labs gamemode. This formidable hunter can Breach his enemies' defenses and burn them with Scalding Spray. Grappling himself to walls with the Reefdweller Harpoon, Fathom can surprise stray landwalkers with Lurker's Ambush, making them easy prey.
The former apex predator of The Deep, Fathom wants to defeat the Adversary to prove his worth. While he may be gone, his loyal followers will never forget his true name.
Fathom was added to Hero Labs on October 24, 2024, and removed from the game when the mode was discontinued on August 18, 2025.

Backstory
“A notorious monster of The Deep, Fathom enjoyed cultivating an aura of mystery and fear around him. He was content feasting on wayward sailors and demanding tithes from selkies, but then The Adversary came and ruined everything. After all, when it came to sowing terror, how could he compete with a genocidal force of nature? It wasn't fair. Something had to be done to save himself from fading into obscurity...and so he seeks to summon the Patrons to ensure that he will always be the apex predator of The Deep.
Lore
The denizens of the Deep know Fathom's true name.[1]
The Shopkeeper says Fathom "looks like a Slork".[2]
Character Interactions
- Holliday calls Fathom an "ugly son of a bitch".[3]
- Calico says the Baxter Society would eventually come after Fathom.[4]
- Rem tells Fathom (as Slork) that "as long as people keep talking about you, you're not truly dead". [5]

Trivia
- Fathom was named Slork in Neon Prime.
- Slork was named after Dota 2's Slark, a hero who has abilities similar to Fathom's.
- "Slork" has been adopted as a nickname for Fathom by some players in the Deadlock community.[6][7] This is alluded to in-game in the voice line where Fathom mentions his "true name",[1] as well as a Shopkeeper voice line.[2] The dev Kaori has also acknowledged "Slork" on Discord,[8][9] and once adopted a profile picture with the caption "Team Slork".[10]
Celeste,
The Doorman,
Paige and
Silver all have lines telling Fathom to "keep on Slorkin'."[11][12][13][14] Rem has a line telling Fathom, "Slork. As long as people keep talking about you, you're not truly dead."[5] These are presumed to be humorous references from the developers, similarly to the Shitty Wizard in Dota 2.
- Fathom's weapon used to be called Poison Sprayer.
- Fathom was the only hero who had an idle animation in the hero selection screen.
- Fathom had a voice line mentioning Hudson Bay.[15] However, judging from the context, it was likely intended to be the Hudson River.
