February 25, 2025	Added missing unique death vo sounds for: Fathom, Trapper, Wrecker, Raven, Sinclair, and Wraith. Lurker's Ambush: The spit debuff is now a heavy slow rather than an immobilize, and its damage is dealt over the effect's duration rather than all on initial impact. Added unique footstep sfx. Lurker's Ambush: the active's duration and damage are halved if Fathom is not latched to a wall while casting. Lurker's Ambush: shortened the channel time required for max duration/damage. Reefdweller Harpoon: fixed it failing to cast if you were sliding while casting. Scalding Spray now has new vfx. Scalding Spray now has a new animation. Remastered sounds for Scalding Spray and Breach abilities for better feedback. Fixed a bug that caused Scalding Spray sound to be too quiet for the victim in certain situations. (Undocumented) Scalding Spray weapon damage gain per second reduced from 7% to 5%. (Undocumented) Scalding Spray T3 DPS increased from 45 to 55.

“

A notorious monster of The Deep, Fathom enjoyed cultivating an aura of mystery and fear around him. He was content feasting on wayward sailors and demanding tithes from selkies, but then The Adversary came and ruined everything. After all, when it came to sowing terror, how could he compete with a genocidal force of nature? It wasn't fair. Something had to be done to save himself from fading into obscurity...and so he seeks to summon the Patrons to ensure that he will always be the apex predator of The Deep.

Trivia

Fathom was named Slork in Neon Prime.
- "Slork" has been adopted as a nickname for Fathom by some players in the Deadlock community.^[4]^[5] This is alluded to in-game in the voice line where Fathom mentions his "true name".^[1] The dev Kaori has also acknowledged "Slork" on Discord,^[6]^[7] and adopted a profile picture with the caption "Team Slork".^[8]
Fathom's weapon used to be called Poison Sprayer.
Fathom is the only hero who has an idle animation in the hero selection screen.
Fathom has a mention of Hudson Bay.^[9] However, judging from the context, it was likely intended to be the Hudson River.
