Lady Geist is a Hero in Deadlock. A socialite with a necromantic pact, Lady Geist consumes her own health for her abilities while draining the life away from opponents. Sacrificing her life force to launch Essence Bombs and Malice "Blood Shards", Lady Geist can regain lost health with Life Drain, sapping enemy heroes and units of their health. Her Soul Exchange swaps health values with an enemy hero, turning the odds against them for a killing blow.

  • When Alternate casting, Spirit self-damage is dealt equal to the base DPS of Life Drain. This damage is not lethal and can be mitigated by Spirit Resist items.
    • The health given to a teammate is equal to the ability's base DPS, independent from the self-damage, and is affected by Healing Effectiveness modifiers.
  • The Alternate Cast can be used on a friendly hero that has full health, but Geist will not take self-damage unless health is being "transferred".
  • Life Drain's tether stays attached to a target even when out of line of sight or beyond its 28m Max Range.

  • Because Life Drain stays attached while out of line of sight, the position of tethered victims can be tracked if they move for cover.

Backstory

See Lady Geist/Lore for more story content.

Once, Lady Jeanne Geist was the toast of the town. But as time passed and her beauty faded she found herself further and further from her glory days in High Society until finally she was nothing more than a frail woman in a nursing home, telling stories of a glorious past. And that’s when Oathkeeper revealed himself. A powerful spirit from another plane, Oathkeeper offered her a path to reclaim her past glories… he could restore her youth; all she had to do was drain the essence of the living to sustain herself.

Geist was torn. Obviously murder was ghoulish business, and undoubtedly Oathkeeper was not an entity that could be trusted… but still, the thought of having a second chance of reliving her youth was too good to pass up. And so she concocted a plan: after making a pact with Oathkeeper she would bind and ward him, limiting his influence and pull over her. Oathkeeper would still get fed; but on her terms, not his.

However, as years have turned to decades; the strength of the Ward has weakened, and Oathkeeper hungers more than he ever has in the past…

Trivia

  • Geist is a German word that can be translated as "spirit/mind".
  • Lady Geist is French, but she uses her late German husband's last name.
  • Lady Geist is referred to as "Oma" (German: grandma) by her grandson Johann Jr.
  • Alongside   Mina, Lady Geist is one of the few heroes to holds her gun in the left hand, as Oathkeeper is in her right arm in-game. However, in a concept art and in The Binding of Oathkeeper artwork, Oathkeeper is in her left arm.
  • Lady Geist was named Spectre in Neon Prime, and later renamed to Ghost.
  • Before Lady Geist's model was updated, there were two work-in-progress models in the files labeled Ghost_test and Ghost_v2.
  • Lady Geist's idle animation has a similar angle and pose as the drawing My Wife and My Mother-in-Law by W. E. Hill, which displays an optical illusion of a young woman and an old woman at the same time.
  • Lady Geist's hairstyle in The Binding of Oathkeeper resembles that of Madeline Ashton, a character played by Meryl Streep in the 1992 movie Death Becomes Her, who similarly uses magic to stay young. The visual novel's cover also references the movie's opening scene, in which Madeline sits in front of a mirror wearing a teal dress and gloves.
  • "Being Fabulous in the Hideout" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as Lady Geist in the Hideout.
  • Lady Geist was referenced in the videogame Skullgirls Mobile as a variant of the character Black Dahlia.
