Jacob Lash is an asshole.
Overview
Lash knows exactly what he wants from the Patrons.[1] His motivation in the ritual seems to be to prove his greatness to the world.[2][3]
Biography
Lash is a champion of the Bear Pit, an underground fight club where spectators gamble on matches.[4][5] It's implied Lash often wins his fights, even in matches where he's supposed to lose,[6] and has only one known loss on his record (being to 
Bebop).[7][8]
Lash is referred to by others as a "stevedore" (dockworker).[9][10][11] He also has anchor tattoos on his shoulders, and his 
Death Slam ability has ship horn sound effects.
Lash donates 3% of his earnings to his charity called "Lash-Back", dedicated to children "that kind of suck".[12]
Lash is well-known in New York. The New York Oracle released a seasonal headline reminding readers "not to be like Jacob Lash".[13]
Personality
Lash is extremely arrogant and vain. He refers to himself in third person as "The Lash".[14][15] He also calls himself "The God of Combat" and "God's gift to Combat".[16][17] Most characters can't stand Lash's ego,[18][19][20] although they sometimes can't deny that Lash is talented.[21]
Lash frequently antagonises his allies, calling them nicknames and often refusing to use their actual name.[22][23] He often flirts with women on his team, who generally shut down or ignore his advances.[24] Lash knows that people hate him, but in his eyes that just means they envy him because they're mediocre.[25][26]
Lash admits that he riles people up on purpose,[27][28] and doesn't deny that he's delusional and arrogant.[29][30] While losing in the ritual, Lash may begin to doubt himself and believe that "maybe he is all talk".[31][32]
Despite being a champion of the Bear Pit, Lash doesn't enjoy hurting people, but rather likes proving that he's better than people.[33] He seemingly doesn't want anyone dead and believes himself to be a "humanitarian through-and-through".[34][35] Lash has a rule against punching old people.[36] Lash never went to college and respects those who did.[37][38]
Appearance
Lash is a burly white man with well-defined muscular limbs and chest. He has a large chin, thick curved brunette moustache, short hair with a front curl and shaved on the sides, small black eyes that are usually almost closed, and sparkles around his head. He wears a blue tank top, dirty dark jeans pants with suspenders and holes in the knees, brown shoes, and a brown leather belt. He carries a large grapple device with ropes in his back, sausages, an open can of green beans, more ropes, and a seemingly blood-soaked red handkerchief. He has anchor tattoos in both his shoulders and smaller tattoos in his back. He wears a pair of golden earrings, a small golden pendant in his neck, and bandages and golden brass knuckles with the name "LASH" in his left hand. His weapon is a large boxing glove-shaped gun he wears in his right arm, possibly based on the Sedgley OSS .38 pistol.
Information
Lash likes to drink mimosas,[39] a cocktail made with chilled sparkling wine and orange juice. He has an open tab at Jezebel's.[40]
Instead of a traditional dockworker, Lash may be an airship worker, as airships are the primary means of air transport in the Deadlock universe.[41] This could be supported by Lash's in-game kit being focused on air mobility. The anchor tattoo in Lash's previous model was surrounded by wind shapes.[42]
In 2024's seasonal update, there was a list for all the playable characters checking if they were naughty or nice. Lash was the only character who was naughty.
Character Relationships
Both champions of the Bear Pit, Lash and Bebop have a rivalry fueled by hate for each other.[43][44][45]
Lash used to use an uppercut instead of Ground Strike, but refused to use it ever again after seeing Bebop use an uppercut.[46][47] Bebop has beaten Lash in the Bear Pit once,[7] and Lash has beaten Bebop at least once afterwards.[48][49] Neither Bebop nor Lash elaborate on why they hate the other so much.[50][51]
Lash has at least 87 reasons why he's better than Bebop.[52]
Lash mocks 
Wraith for betting on Bebop,[53] and Wraith teases Lash because he lost to Bebop "one time".[7]
Vyper loves Lash and is obsessed with him.[54][55][56] She has watched him sleep (without his knowledge)[57] and sends Lash letters made to "stand out" (the contents of the letters are unknown, but they do make Lash uncomfortable).[58][59] When Vyper flirts with 
Billy, she asks if she can call him "Lash".[60]
Lash is scared of Vyper's obsession with him and wants her to leave him alone.[61][62][63]
The leader of the dismantled Mendoza Syndicate, Mendoza once told Wraith to bet money on Lash throwing a pit fight, which Lash proceeded to win.[6]
The only person Mendoza hates more than Lash is 
Ivy.[64]
In Ivy's Visual Novel, Mendoza sent some goons to beat up Lash.[65]

Apollo believes Lash is a decent fighter, but a middling talent in real combat.[75]
Pocket thinks Lash's ego is disguised insecurity.[76]- The
Shopkeeper calls Lash a "Celtics fan"[77] and "the poster boy for the Celtics".[78] The Boston Celtics basketball team has a historic rivalry with the New York Knicks, which is referenced in other voice lines.[79][80]

Lash makes an appearance in Ivy's visual novel, currently untitled.
Note: Ivy's visual novel is currently inaccessible to the main game, instead being something planned for release in the future. As such, everything in the current visual novel is prone to change, as it is still undergoing development.
In chapter 3d, Ivy decides to take a job as a process server and is tasked with giving Lash his court summons. Finding Lash "ruminating" on an I-beam, Ivy gives him his court summons and tells Lash that there were a group of people below them who were waiting for him to come down. Lash tells Ivy that that's why he's up there, and he's deciding "whose teeth he's gonna kick in first". Ivy offers to scare the group off, but Lash tells her he isn't running and intends to fight the group by himself.
In Chapter 4e, Lash, accompanied by Ivy, proceeds to fight the group of thugs waiting for Lash. One of the thugs mentions Mendoza, which catches Ivy's attention as she thought Mendoza left New York. After beating up the thugs, Ivy asks Lash if he can take her to Mendoza, to which Lash agrees.
The ending of this chapter is currently unknown.

Warden "Creepy", "Vomitus" and "Tailor Inferior".[101] He also used to show interest in working with Warden,[102] believing that they "could've done great things together."[103] - Lash used to have kill lines towards himself, believing his copy to be a fanboy wearing an "official Lash costume".[104][105]
Neon Prime
In Neon Prime, Lash owned a dojo. He taunted 
Kali, a former Bear Pit competitor, for coming out of retirement only to go back to a 2 decade hiatus after losing to Bebop.[106] Lash also used to date the character Ballista, and wanted to get them back after a break-up.[107][108]
The only known image of Neon Prime Lash is a small icon in which he is depicted with a purple visor. This character was confirmed as Lash by Yoshi.
