“Sacrifices health then drains it backExpending health to achieve devastating effects is the source of Lady Geist's power. When running low, she can drain the life out of her rivals.
An old-time socialite with a necromantic pact, Lady Geist is a terrifying foe that consumes her own health for her abilities while draining the life away from enemies. Sacrificing her life force to launch Essence Bombs and blood shards of Malice, Lady Geist can make up the lost health with a Life Drain tether to a nearby opponent. After being brought low by her own abilities or enemy attacks, she can conduct a Soul Exchange and swap health with her opponent, making them vulnerable to followup attacks from her revolver.
The Toast of the Town, Lady Geist was famed by all and invited to every ball and gala in the city... until her beauty faded in her old age and left her with only memories and stories of her glory. In desperation, she formed a pact with a powerful spirit and bound it by powerful wards until she was safe and young again. All she needs to do now is feed on the life force of her fellows to maintain her beauty... and hope desperately that the Oathkeeper will stay bound.

Background
“Once, Lady Jeanne Geist was the toast of the town. But as time passed and her beauty faded she found herself further and further from her glory days in High Society until finally she was nothing more than a frail woman in a nursing home, telling stories of a glorious past. And that’s when Oathkeeper revealed himself. A powerful spirit from another plane, Oathkeeper offered her a path to reclaim her past glories… he could restore her youth; all she had to do was drain the essence of the living to sustain herself.
Geist was torn. Obviously murder was ghoulish business, and undoubtedly Oathkeeper was not an entity that could be trusted… but still, the thought of having a second chance of reliving her youth was too good to pass up. And so she concocted a plan; after making a pact with Oathkeeper she would bind and ward him, limiting his influence and pull over her. Oathkeeper would still get fed; but on her terms, not his.
However, as years have turned to decades; the strength of the Ward has weakened, and Oathkeeper hungers more than he ever has in the past...

Biography
This section contains spoilers for The Binding of Oathkeeper.
Jeanne "Oma" Geist (married name) was born in France, in 1815. She later married German artist[1] Johann Geist. Jeanne and Johann had a son named Walter in 1850, and Johann died in 1880.
Circa 1899, when Jeanne was around 84 years old, the first Maelstrom happened, bringing various supernatural forces to Earth, and the spirit Oathkeeper was one of them. Jeanne made a pact with Oathkeeper to regain her youth in exchange for draining the life of others. She was initially reluctant, but accepted the deal. However, with the help of Walter, she made a ward to keep Oathkeeper under control.
Walter had a son whom he named after his father, Johann "Jr." Johann Jr. became a doctor, and after Walter died, he did the maintenance of his grandmother's ward. Jeanne and Walter had "a terrible sense of humor", according to Johann Jr.
Now, 50 years after her initial pact and on the eve of the second Maelstrom, Geist has to decide how she'll deal with Oathkeeper, and whether she'll continue to kill others to stay young or accept her natural aging and eventual death.[2]
Character interactions
- Lady Geist funded Kelvin's Arctic expedition.[3]
- Lady Geist has an old grudge against Paradox.[4] Paradox has stolen a painting from Geist, presumably made by Geist's husband.[5][6]
- In one of the visual novel's endings, Abrams moves to Lady Geist's apartment.
