- Ability Range increases (e.g. Greater Expansion) affect both the radius and travel range.
- If the dragon hits an obstacle, it deflects and travels along the surface until it can return to its initial course. Due to imperfections in geometry this does not always work and the direction may change erratically, especially inside small rooms.
- Deals damage in 0.3s intervals.
- Bookwyrm has a 0.1s. lingering effect which means it is possible to receive damage for a short time after leaving the trail.
- The initial damage radius is slightly bigger than the trail width. Thus it's possible to hit an enemy with initial cast but miss applying any "trail burn" on them.

Paige is a Hero in Deadlock. Citizens of Manhattan will learn to appreciate the power of the written word when Paige joins the fight. With the mere toss of a book she can conjure a Bookwyrm that sears enemies who get too close, or bind them to the ground with Captivating Read. Waning allies will find themselves emboldened by Plot Armor, granting them the courage to fight another day. Fantasy becomes reality with Rallying Charge, summoning an entire cavalry to gallop across the city.
Paige grew up with books, love, and kindness in her family home; but she was at odds with her rebellious younger brother, Bryce. He sought out dangerous occult magics, disappearing one day while Paige's normally-watchful eye was away. Now a talented bibliomancer, Paige seeks answers about her brother's disappearance and will stop at nothing to find them.
Paige was released on August 25, 2025 as the fourth hero of the Six New Heroes update (third winner of hero vote).

[edit | edit source]Ability Changes
[edit | edit source]In addition to global changes, Paige receives the following modifications to her abilities:
Bookwyrm
[edit | edit source]- T2 bonus radius reduced by 15%, from +1m to +0.85m.
Item Draft
[edit | edit source]In Street Brawl, every hero draws items from a shared pool, but some items are weighted to appear more often for a given hero and others less often. For each tier below, that tier's items are grouped by how likely they are to be offered to Paige: High, Average, or Low chance.
Backstory
[edit | edit source]See Paige/Lore for more story content.
“The daughter of a rare book dealer, Paige grew up in a loving home that prioritized kindness, magic, and storytelling. But while Paige took naturally to her parents' values, her little brother Bryce did not.
A rebellious teen, Bryce resented not only his family’s saccharine attitude, but also their refusal to let him dabble in magics that they deemed too dangerous. Paige tried everything she could think of to keep him out of trouble, but like most teenagers, the more his big sister tried to tell him what was best for him, the more he turned away.
Paige doesn't know what Bryce did to get kicked out of the house...just that she came home from the library to find her brother gone and her parents crying.
Days turned to weeks, to months, to years. Paige grew to become a talented bibliomancer, making a living as a storyteller reading at libraries across the five boroughs; and while her parents have remained silent about what happened with Bryce, Paige's obsession with finding him has only grown. She will discover what happened to her brother... and no man or god is going to stand in her way.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Paige's name has a double meaning: It can be a reference to the pages of books, as well as the servants of knights and noblemen in medieval times.
- Paige was one of the heroes in a private build who was accidently leaked on stream in May 2025.[2]
- Paige was originally named Bookworm, and later renamed to Patience during development, before being changed to her current name. Some voice lines still refer to her as Patience,[3][4] but that is unintentional.[5]
- Paige's ability VFX uses text from the book Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the placeholder Lorem Ipsum text.
- "Reading in the Hideout" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as Paige in the Hideout.
- Bookwyrm was originally named Conjure Dragon, and Plot Armor was originally named Defend and Fight!. These abilities were presumably renamed based on feedback originally posted on Reddit by user u/CDranzer.[6] Wyrm is an Old English word for "serpent" or "dragon" in Germanic folklore.
- The book used in Bookwyrm uses textures from TF2's Bombinomicon.
