Let's contribute to the chaos!

Celeste is a Hero in Deadlock. It's not every day that Coney Island's biggest star, The Dazzling Celeste, performs on the streets of Manhattan. Her show begins with Light Eater, where a deep breath lit by her blazing baton coats enemies in front of her, and grants increased damage against them. Following that up, she envelops herself in the prismatic shield of her Dazzling Trick, which explodes and silences nearby enemies who break it. Try not to get distracted by her gliding gracefully through the air, or by the dance of her Radiant Daggers, as you'll regret being underneath them when they rain down from above. As for her memorable final act, the Shining Wonder will make her allies go OOH and her foes go AGGHHH!

A popular attraction at Coney Island, "The dazzling Celeste" isn't a carnie with a horn glued to her head: she's actually a unicorn. As unicorns are nothing more than a myth in the eyes of the public, Celeste hides her true identity out of fear of getting poached for her horn. However, when one of her found family members on the sideshow loses part of their soul in a gambling debt, Celeste is prepared to risk revealing her identity if it means helping her family.

Celeste was released on February 9, 2026 as the fifth winner of the Old Gods, New Blood update contest.

Celeste has a passive that alters her aerial movement:

Weapon

[edit | edit source]
Carny Life
Medium Range
Projectile
Bouncy
31 Damage Per Second
Falloff Range
22m ➞ 60m

Carny Life's projectile flies in an arc and bounces on the first surface it hits. If there's an enemy in range at a narrow angle (~45º spread) from the shot, the projectile homes into them / flies in their direction. It will also home into soul orbs.

If shot directly at an enemy, the projectile can ricochet to a second enemy at close distance and aligned at a narrow angle. The ricocheted shot can headshot the second enemy, if shot at a high enough angle to hit their head, and it will trigger headshot item effects.

Split Shot generates 3 multishots at 70° spread.

Backstory

[edit | edit source]

See Celeste/Lore for more story content.

Even in a world of magic, some things are still rare and unusual. So what is a unicorn to do?  Announce her presence to the world and potentially have poachers looking to saw off her horn? Or hide in plain sight at a Coney Island Side Show where most folk would assume her appearance was just part of an act?

Over the years "The Dazzling Celeste" has grown into one of the more popular attractions on Coney, and while the applause from a cheering audience is appreciated; what keeps her waking up in the morning is the found family she's made at work.

Keruba the Mermaid.

Blockhead Lenny.

Chickenwing.

Ted.

These were her people.  So when she discovered that one of her own sold part of their soul in order to cover a gambling debt, Celeste knew it was time to step out of the shadows and do whatever it takes to get it back.  Is revealing her power to The Patrons a risk?  Yes.  But that's tomorrow's problem... her family needs help today.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Celeste was named Pepper during early development.[1]
  • Celeste's appearance alludes to tattooed ladies who worked as sideshow attractions in the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • Celeste has a sparkle effect on her dash jumps, air dashes, wallbounces and slides. These effects are turned off while in a match.
  • Celeste's model received slight adjustments on the face and hair and a new render pose before her release.
  • Celeste's Shining Wonder is nearly identical to Lich's Chain Frost ability from Dota 2 and is similar to the "Skipshot" ability of the unreleased hero Boho.
    • There are cut voice lines that indicate Celeste was originally capable of using Dazzling Trick on allies as well as herself, furthering her similarities with Lich.
  • Celeste had the most votes from a single player in the Old Gods, New Blood hero contest, at 813.[2]
  • Chickenwing and Ted were both teased 3 months before Celeste's backstory was revealed, in a joke post by developer Hopoo.[3]
  • "Cleaning Up Glitter in the Hideout" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as Celeste in the Hideout.
